Yes Duffy is the principal and founder of Activist Architecture Collective: a design studio focusing on affordable, accessible, democratic design for everyday people.
Architecture is a powerful social, political and ecological act. Activist architecture utilizes community-based design to cultivate massive social and environmental benefit through the design of the built environment. Our work deeply and meaningfully engages people and places by first uncovering and discovering tangible and inspiring local values, local assets, and latent opportunities. These essential discoveries and collaborations become the foundation of our design process.
Our craft combines traditional architectural wisdom and contemporary digital tools, and explores how simple materials and construction can become elegant, sustainable, performative systems. The result is a confluence of place-based innovations, raw material explorations, elegant modern craft and construction, and a healthy respect for the entropic processes of weather and time.
